GET INVOLVED

We believe that by spreading the word about birth trauma, more and more families and professionals can feel supported and birth experiences can be better for all.  Our ambassadors can direct people to the resources available here at Make Birth Better and get the message out into the community about birth trauma prevention and healing.

What is an Ambassador?

You!

We would love you to help us spread the word. You can do this by:

  • Be open to listening to people’s birth experiences, with no judgement, when invited to do so

  • Inform - birth trauma affects 30% of women, and can affect birth partners, family members and staff too.

  • Refer people to the free resources available on this site

  • Train – ask your local services if they need birth trauma training provided by our qualified team

  • Help – signpost people to their GP, health professionals, the Birth Trauma Association, Birthrights or AIMS.

WHAT AN AMBASSADOR IS:

We would love you to help us raise awareness of our organisation, spread the word about our website and resources, help us to train professionals and signpost people to appropriate support.

WHAT AN AMBASSADOR IS NOT:

We ask that you do not offer direct support to those who contact you, but rather signpost them to appropriate services, unless you have the appropriate qualifications and supervision in place. People may reach out to you and ask specific clinical questions, via social media or direct messaging. It's very tempting to want to help or to talk about what worked for you and though this may be meant kindly it's very important ambassadors do not give out clinical advice or guidance. If in doubt please do ask for support or forward on email or messages to Becca or Emma. This is to protect both you and those you come into contact with. We are so grateful that you wish to support us. We are also aware of just how easily symptoms of trauma can be worsened even by those with the best of intentions

“Since sharing my story, countless women have contacted me to open up about their own experience - as an ambassador I can direct them to where to get help.”
